Why is Huangguoshu Waterfall so Special?
The Huangguoshu Waterfall is a microcosm of the Milky Way and the largest waterfall in Asia. Huangguoshu Waterfall became famous in the Ming Dynasty when Xu Xiake, a traveler, became a well-known scenic spot through the travel and dissemination of famous people of all ages. It is 74 meters (243 feet) high and 81 meters (266 feet) wide. It is a scenic wonder in Anshun. If you are in Guizhou, don’t miss it.
Where is Huangguoshu Waterfall
Known as Huangguoshu Waterfall National Park, it is located 45 kilometers (28 miles) southwest of Anshun City in Guizhou Province. Huangguoshu Waterfall has the same charm as a small waterfall and is a natural tourist drawing card. Hospitable ethical groups have added a touch of humanity.
History of Huangguoshu Waterfall
On April 23, 1638 (11th year of chongzhen of Ming dynasty), Xu xiake, a geographer, traveler and essayist of Ming dynasty, entered Yunnan via huangguoshu waterfall and made an inspection and record of huangguoshu waterfall.
After 1980s, a large number of Chinese and foreign celebrities visited Huangguoshu and wrote inscriptions.

Main Attractions of Huangguoshu Waterfall
Waterfalls Cluster
Huangguoshu is the most famous of the 18 waterfalls in the waterfall group. Its flow is seasonally adjusted. The reservoir behind the waterfall blocked some water. Doubotang Waterfall, a kilometer (less than a mile) up the river to Huangguoshu Waterfall, is 105 meters (344 feet) wide. It is 21 meters (69 feet) high. Other waterfalls, such as Luoshitan Waterfall, Yinlian Waterfall and Dishuitan Waterfall, have their unique characteristics.
Water-Curtain Cave
The Water Curtain Cave dissects Huangguoshu and provides tourists with a view of the waterfall. The total length of the cave is 134 meters (440 feet), including windows and halls. A road on the hillside leads to the water curtain cave, where autumn can be heard, observed and touched. On a sunny day, a rainbow arched the waterfall.
Rhinoceros Pool (Xi Niu Tan)
The pool is 11 meters (36 feet) deep, shaped like a rhinoceros and submerged all the year round. Standing in the water viewing pavilion (Wangshuiting) beside the rhinoceros pool and enjoying the flowing water of Huangguoshu Waterfall, you may feel a string of pearls and silver chains falling on you. What a spectacular and especially charming scene!
View different waterfalls from favorable positions. We suggest the following. The first is the waterfall pavilion, where you can see the panorama of the whole waterfall. Then, from the water viewing pavilion (Wang Shuiting), you can see the spectacular sight of surging water. The third is the water viewing pavilion (Wang Shuiting) beside the rhinoceros pool. The wonderful night view of the Great Falls left a lasting impression. Please don’t miss it.

Best Time to Travel Huangguoshu Waterfall
The best time to pay a visit is all year round.

How to Get There
By plane
Huangguoshu Airport is the nearest airport to Huangguoshu Waterfall. Now, the airport has opened direct flights between Huangguoshu and Beijing, Chongqing, Shanghai and Kunming. Since few flights arrive here directly, another way to reach Huangguoshu is to transfer at Guiyang Longdongbao Airport. Address: Countryside, Xixiu District, Anshun City
Take the train
- From Guiyang: Huangguoshu is located in Anshun City, Guizhou Province and can be reached from Guiyang or Anshun. Therefore, tourists need to arrive at Guiyang Railway Station first, then transfer to Guiyang Jinyang Coach Station, and then take shuttle bus from Jinyang Coach Station to Huangguoshu Waterfall.
- From Anshun: Anshun Railway Station is near Huangguoshu Waterfall. After arriving at the station, transfer to coach station in Anshun east, then take the bus to the scenic spot.

Guiyang-Huangguoshu Waterfall
Coach: coach station in Jinyang, Guiyang, from 7: 00 to 19: 00. a bus leaves every 15 minutes and runs between Guiyang and huangguoshu waterfall for 2.5 hours. -
Anshun-Huangguoshu Waterfall
Coach East Station in Anshun provides a shuttle bus to Huangguoshu Waterfall, which takes about 50 minutes. -
Huangguoshu Waterfall in Guiyang
It is easy to return to Guiyang from Huangguoshu Waterfall. There are so many buses at the exit of the scenic spot, whether it is to Anshun or Guiyang, it takes about 3 hours to get back to Guiyang.
