Rebiya is the daughter of Bayi (the rich man) in the village, while Saiding is the son of the poor peasants in the same village. The two grew up as childhood sweethearts and loved each other for life. Satin’s father asked Rebiya’s father to marry him for his son and was rejected. Rebiya was promised by her father to marry another rich family in her village. Satin died of a serious illness after hearing the news. Rebiya stole to Saiding’s tomb to cry before her marriage, and then drowned herself in the river. In the spring of 1834, the villagers buried Rebiya next to Sedin’s tomb to satisfy their unfulfilled wishes.
