Why is Huanglongxi Ancient Town So Special?
Huanglongxi is an ancient town with a history of more than 1,700 years. The town features its ancient culture of water culture, Buddhism culture, tea culture, ecologic farming culture integrated with colorful folklore culture, screen culture and cooking culture. Its well-preserved buildings and cobbled street makes it a popular scenic destination for visitors and filmmakers alike. A number of the current buildings are historical civilian residences dating from the Ming and Qing Dynasties.

To go to Huanglongxi Old Town, one can use the buses. There are scheduled buses every 20 minutes from Chengdu Xinnanmen Tourist Center to Huanglongxi Old Town from 8:00 to 17:30 everyday. Bus ticket costs 14 yuan per person. There are also other scheduled buses from Chengdu Chadianzi Bus Station every 15 minutes from 6:00 to 18:00. It also costs 14 yuan per person. The bust takes about 1 hour to arrive in Huanglongxi Old Town from Chengdu

Ancient Streets
With many scenic places of interest, Huanglongxi Ancient Town is worth a visit to find the old Chinese culture and customs. Seven ancient streets, which were built during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, are well preserved. They are all paved with stone slabs, and the porch columns on both sides are orderly arrayed.
Ancient Temples
Gulong Temple is the oldest temple in Huanglongxi Ancient town. It stays in the south of Zheng Street and faces north and features ancient temple, ancient drama stage and ancient banyans. Two banyans grown in the temple are said to be sacred trees and one touch keeps you away from sickness and disaster. Another two temples are Zhenjiang Temple and Chaoyin Temple located in middle and north of Zheng Street.
Folk Art
Huanglongxi is hometown of the Fire Dragon Dance, which is a traditional Chinese dragon dance. The Fire Dragon Festival is held on every second day of the first Chinese lunar month, which is during the Chinese New Year and last until the Latten Festival which is the 15th day. The Fire Dragon Festival originated from Southern Song Dynasty when people believed there was dragon at Huanglongxi. The celebration includes burning a paper “fire dragon”, dragon dancing, lion dancing, river lamp releasing, fireworks show, Sichuan opera and many other celebrations.
