Why Is Ghost Town of the World So Special?

Ghost Town of the World (克拉玛依世界魔鬼城/乌尔禾魔鬼城) belongs to Yadan landform. Under the long-term effect of nature, it has formed a dreamlike labyrinth world. Due to the wind and rain erosion, the ground forms gullies of different depths. The exposed stone layer is carved in a strange shape by the strong wind. On the rolling hillside, there are all kinds of stones with blood red, blue, white and orange yellow, just like the remains of a witch, adding a few mysterious colors. The inner city is located in the wind mouth, with many winds in four seasons.

History of Ghost Town of the World

About 100 million years ago, the Ghost Town of the World was still a huge fresh water lake, surrounded by lush trees, where ancient animals such as Wuerhe sword dragon, snake head dragon and Junggar pterosaur lived. After two major crustal movements, the lake became a land desert mixed with sandstone and shale, geologically known as the “Gobi platform”.
