How to Get & Leave There

By Plane

There are two routes to reach Kanas Lake Scenic Spot by plane. First, visitors could take train directly to Kanas Lake, mainly from the Urumqi and Yining direction. What people need to keep in mind is that Kanas Airport is a seasonal airport so that it only opens in summer. Therefore, tourists could take plane to Altay first and then take long-distance bus or train to Kanas Lake Scenic Spot, which usually takes you 3 hours.

Kanas Airport

  Kanas Airport is in southern edge of Kanas Lake. It takes you about one hour from the airport to the Kanas Scenic Spot. And the airport shuffle bus costs 60 yuan.

Altay Airport

By Train

Taking train to Kanas, you could reach Beitun Railway Station first and then take coach to Burqin and then to Kanas. Beitun Railway Station offers trains to Urumqi, Kuytun and Shihezi. But Urumqi has trains to Altay so you could take train to Altay and than to Kanas. There 5 train lines from Urumqi to Altay, which takes you 9 to 11 hours.

By Long-distance Bus

Visitors could take sleeper coach from Urumqi to Burqin. The coach starts from Nianzigou Coach Station at 11：15 a.m. each day. It takes you 151 yuan and 9 hours. In Burqin Coach Station, there are long-distance buses to Kanas Scenic Spot each day. The bus starts at 10 a.m. and costs 35 yuan. Beitun offers coaches to Burqin as well. It takes more than 1 hour.

How to Get Around

Bus

By 2016, Xinjiang Kanas Tourism Development Incorporated Company provides tour buses to Kanas, Baihaba Village, and Hemu Village for tourists. Private cars are not allowed to get into the scenic spots. The following are the price and routes of these buses.

• Airport Shuttle Bus: Kanas Airport - Kanas Jiadenyu, 130 yuan each person (round-trip ticket)
• Kanas Jiadenyu - Guanyutai (Fish-watching Platform): 275 each for the first pass and 305 yuan each for the second pass
• Kanas Transfer Center - Guanyutai (Fish-watching Platform): 120 yuan each (round-trip ticket)
• Kanas Transfer Center - Baihaba Village: 124 yuan each (round-trip ticket) (For those who go to Baihaba, you need fronter pass. So take Id Card or passport with you)
• Kanas Jiadenyu - Hemu Transfer Center: 280 yuan each
• Hemu Ticket Stop - Hemu Transfer Center: 100 yuan each

Taxi

Kanas belongs to Burqin county. The starting price of the taxi there is 6 yuan within 3 kilometers. It takes you 1.3 yuan per kilometer out of 3 kilometers. The tax there charge by the number of passengers.

Chartered Vehicles

Charted vehicles are usually much more comfortable than long-distance buses, but it is costly as well. Double round from Kanas to Urumqi is about 1,600 miles.
