Day 1 Xining Arrival

Sightseeing and Activities: Taer Monastery

Upon your arrival, tour guide will pick you up from airport or train station and then transfer to your hotel in Xining city. Then we will visit Taer Monastery, the birthplace of lamaism shamanism founder Tsongkhapa, which is some 25 kilometers from Xining. It is a Tibetan lama monastery with a history of over 400 years with the “three treasures of the monastery”: mural, barbola and butter sculptures.

Day 2 Xining – Qinghai Lake – Xining

Sightseeing and Activities: Qinghai Lake, Qinghai Lake Cruise, Riyue Mountains

Chaka Salt Lake in Haixi, Qinghai

In the morning, drive about 2.5 hours to Qinghai Lake, the largest inland and salt-water lake in China and is fed by 23 rivers.

We will cruise on the lake and visit the Bird Island in the lake. Then drive back to Xining.

On the way, we will stop at the Riyue Mountains for a visit, which also known as “Sun and Moon Mountain”, which is part of the magnificent Qilian Mountain Range. On either side of the pass, the Ri (Sun) and Yue (Moon) Pavilions were built to commemorate Princess Wencheng’s sacrifice

Day 3 Xining – Xiahe

Sightseeing and Activities: Rongwu Monastery, Ganjia Prairie
Accommodation: Xiahe
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

In the morning, drive about 3.5 hours to Tongren county for the famous “Regong Art” of Tibetan Buddhism. Visit the holy Rongwu Monastery first and then drive aross Ganjia Prairie to Xiahe. Stay overnight in Xiahe.

Day 4 Xiahe – Lanzhou

Sightseeing and Activities: Labrang Monastery
Accommodation: Lanzhou
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Today we will visit Labrang Monastery. It is one of the six great monasteries of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism, which has become known to visitors as the film’s shooting place of “World Without Thieves”.

Then drive to Lanzhou and check in the hotel for rest.

Day 5 Lanzhou Departure

Sightseeing and Activities: Waterwheel Garden

In the morning, visit the Waterwheel Garden on the southern bank of the Yellow River in Lanzhou. Then transfer you to Lanzhou airport or train station for your next destination.
