Overview
Gansu (甘肃), formerly romanized as Kansu, is a province located in the northwest of the People’s Republic of China. Gansu lies strategically between the Tibetan Plateau and the Loess Plateau and shares borders with several regions:
- Mongolia (Govi-Altai Province) and Inner Mongolia to the north
- Ningxia to the north
- Xinjiang and Qinghai to the west
- Sichuan to the south
- Shaanxi to the east
The Yellow River flows through the southern part of the province, adding to its scenic and historical importance.

Historical Significance
