Where is Shibaozhai?

Shibaozhai, located in Zhong County at the south bank of the Yangtze River, the north bank of the Yangtze River, 278 kilometers away from Chongqing City, 45 kilometers from Zhongxian County,Sichuan Province.

Why is Shibaozhai So Special？

It is the tallest specimen of ancient architecture with the most storeys in China and reputed as one of the eight fantastic examples of architecture in the world. History of Shibaozhai

Shibaozhai built during Ming dynasty, more than four hundred years ago; the village buildings built around the mountain, the eaves wings are very spectacular. Ming dynasty peasant leader Tanhong was uprising, and his troop occupied here as fortress, so it named Shibao Village.

Main Attractions of Shibaozhai

The Shibaozhai pavilion, a total of 12 floors, 56 meters. On the top of Shibaozhai, there is ancient emperor temple, the wall built along the rock, lofty hall and palace, and there are showroom for cultural relics and Duck Cave and Liumi Cave, etc. Inside the pavilion, there are steles and inscriptions of past dynasties of each floor. Visitors can also admire the spectacular Yangtze River from the windows of each floor.

By Bus

Take a bus from Jiaotong Square of Chaotianmen to Zhong County, and it takes about 2 hours. And then take a bus at Zhong County Station to Shibaozhai.

By Water

Take a yacht from Chaotian Harbor to Zhong County, and it takes about 3 hours. And then take a bus at Zhong County Station to Shibaozhai. And then take a bus at Zhong County Station to Shibaozhai. Buses in Zhong County run about every 30 minutes.
