Lying along the southeastern frontier of the Qinghai-Tibetan, Aba Prefecture has a limited transportation due to local geography. Two airports serve visitors to Aba respectively. Coach is the most convenient and common way to access Aba. Trains are not available at present.

How to Get There & Away

By Air

There are two airports in Aba Prefecture, Jiuhuang (Jiuzhaigou-Huanglong) Airport in the east and Hongyuan airport in the west, both of which only have flights to Chengdu. So the best way is to get to Chengdu first and then transfer to Aba Prefecture.

• Jiuhuang (Jiuzhaigou-Huanglong) Airport:Located 12 kilometers in the north of Chuanzhusi Town, Songpan County, Jiuhuang (Jiuzhaigou-Huanglong) Airport is the main airport in Aba. It is about 10 hours’ drive to the central area of Aba prefecture. Besides Chengdu, it has opened direct flights during the peak season to Chongqing, Xi 'an, Kunming, Zhangjiajie, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Beijing and Shanghai with irregular flights.   1.Jiuhuang Airport-Jiuzhai Valley
  2.Jiuhuang Airport-Huanglong-Jiuzhai Valley

  There is no specific departure time for the shuttle bus. It departs only when filled up.

  Taxi
  It is very convenient to take taxi from the airport to the main scenic spots in Aba, about 200-300RMB to Jiuzhai Valley, 200RMB to Huanglong or Muni Valley.

• Hongyuan Airport:About 48 kilometers away from Hongyuan County, Hongyuan airport provides service with Shuttle buses (to county town only), taxis and car rental.The distribution of scenic spots in Hongyuan County is relatively scattered, and there is no direct shuttle bus to most of the scenic spots. You are advised to rent a car to appreciate the stunning scenery.

By Train:

At present, there are no any trains to Aba. While the railway from Chengdu to Aba is under construction, and is estimated to serve travelers by 2020.

By coach:

The scheduled bus runs every day from Chadianzi Bus Station or Xinnanmen Bus Station in Chengdu to get to Jiuzhaigou, Barkam, Zoige, Songpan, Zamtang and the Four Maiden's Mountain in Aba Prefecture, which is the best way to appreciate the natural beauty on the way. The major buses transportation hubs in the prefecture are Wenchuan County Bus Terminal, Songzhou Bus Terminal, Chuanzhusi Tourism Passenger Center.

How to Get Around

By Taxi:

Although Aba prefecture is very large, the county town is small. Therefore there are no buses in the county besides the coach. Taxis are available but the driver won’t use the taximeter. So you can discuss for a flat rate before getting on the car.

By Pedicab:

Besides taxi, there are pedicab for getting around. It is the most common way with low price.
