Hulunbuir Transportation

Equipped  with aviation, railway and highway, Hulunbuir offers transportation convenience by two airports, three railway stations and two long-distance bus stations, as well as its local transportation including taxi and bus.  Currently,  the upgraded airport provides daily direct flights and some weekly regular flights  to twenty cities; the railways reaches destinations such as Beijing, Hohhot, Suifenhe and provincial city of Russia; the long-distance buses offer convenience for traveling the local cities and towns. 

How to Get to Hulunbuir

At present, Hulunbuir can be available by air, train and long-distance bus from other major cities, such as Beijing, Hohhot, Tianjian, Xi'an, Harbin, Chengdu, Shanghai, Dalian, Shenzhen, Qingdao, Haikou, Changsha, Jiagedaqi(加格达奇), Ulanhot(乌兰浩特), etc.

Hulunbuir Dongshan International Airport

As the major airport of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Hulunbuir Dongshan International Airport is located in Hailar district, Hulunbuir city, 3 kilometers from the city proper. It was  founded in 1932 with its former name as Hailar Dongshan International Airport, and renamed as  Hulunbuir Dongshan International Airport in 2011. Currently,  the upgraded airport provides daily direct flights to 14 cities including Beijng, Hohhot, Tianjian, Xi'an, Harbin, Chengdu, Shanghai, Dalian, Shenzhen, Qingdao, Haikou, Changsha, Jiagedaqi(加格达奇), Ulanhot(乌兰浩特), and some regular direct flights  to 6 cities such as Zhengzhou (every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday), Shenyang (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday), Zhanlantun(Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday), Tongliao(Monday,Friday), Daqing(Monday,Friday) and Manzhouli ( Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday), some fights may suffer interim adjustment, information should be confirmed on the official website.

Manzhouli Xijiao International Airport

Located 9 kilometers southwest of Manzhouli City, Inner Mongolia, Manzhouli Xijiao International Airport borders Russia and Mongolia. It has opened more than 30 domestic and international flights to destinations including Beijng, Harbin, Chengdu, Shanghai, Sanya, Xiamen, Seoul(Korea), Irkutsk(Russia), Choybalsan(Mongolia), etc.

Airport Transportation

1. Taxicab

• Hulunbuir Dongshan International Airport is 3 kilometers from the city proper. Taxis are easily available to get to airport, the flag-fall price is 6 yuan for first 2 kilometers. After 2 kilometers, 2 yuan per kilometer, it won't cost you much to get to the downtown, 20 yuan at maximum. 
• Taxi rate from Manzhouli Xijiao International Airport is about 50 yuan, and from the city proper to airport is between 30-50 yuan.

2. Airport shuttle bus

• Airport shuttle bus is also operated in Hulunbuir Dongshan International Airport for you choice, but at irregular departure times, you have to inquiry at the ticket  booth, or over the phone at Tel number 0470-8271114. The ticket price is 5 yuan for 20 minutes drive.
• There is airport shuttle bus available  from  Manzhouli Xijiao International Airport to the downtown area, but no shuttle bus from city proper to the airport. The ticket rate is 15 yuan/person, departure time is based on the flight arrival time.

Train

There are three railway stations in Hulunbuir: Hailar Railway Station, Manzhouli Railway Station and Zhalantun Railway Station.

1. Hailar Railway Station海拉尔火车站

Destination: Passengers are able to get to Beijing, Hohhot and Suifenhe, and international passenger train starting from Beijing to Russia also stop at Hailar station.

2. Manzhouli Railway Station 满洲里火车站

Destination: As the largest land border port in China and important connecting station of the "first continental bridge in Asia", Manzhouli has made great contribution to China's economic development and the trade with Russia. Currently, Manzhouli Railway Station offers starting trains to Beijing, Hohhot, Harbin, Dalian, Hailar, Qiqihar and Suifenhe, it is also a stop for the train starting from Beijing to Moscow (Russia).

2. Zhalantun Railway Station 扎兰屯火车站

Destination: Passengers  are able to reach Beijing, Harbin, Dalian, the capital city Hohhot ,etc. and then getting access to the wide railway network of China. Zhalantun Railway Station also provides daily shifts to Qiqihar.

Long-distance Bus

Hulunbuir is equipped with two major long distance bus stations: Hailar Bus Station and Manzhouli International Terminal which provide transportation to the long-distance places in Hulunbuir and provincial city nearby.

Destination: Located only 200 meters away from the Hailar Railway Station, it is very convenient for passengers to transfer. Hailar Bus Station provides daily shifts to places  including Yakeshi, Mordaga(莫尔道嘎),  Honghuaerji(红花尔基), Genhe, Ergun, Manzhouli, Arxan, Harbin and etc.

1. Manzhouli International Terminal (满洲里国际客运站)

Destination: As an international passenger terminal, this station only has buses to Ulanhot, Hailar, Yakeshi and Harbin.

How to Get Around Hulunbuir

1. Taxi

Taxi is a good choice to get round Hulunbuir, convenient without too much cost. The price is charged at 6 yuan for first 2 kilometers. After 2 kilometers, 2 yuan per kilometer, moreover, taxi is also available in Genhe and Manzhouli with the starting price at 6-8 yuan.

2. City Bus

Hailar district has 10 bus routes, bus stops are mainly concentrated along  East Barag Road, Central Street, Shengli Street, Jiagedachi Road.are The ticket prices ranging from 1 to 2 yuan. 

3. Rent Cars

Tourists can also rent a car to get round Hulunbuir, more convenient and flexible for your itinerary, the price is about 500-600 yuan/day according to the vehicle type, furthermore, it is highly suggested to hire an experienced local guide for your tour.
