Science and Technology

Foshan is one of the first cities in China recognized as a national strong city for intellectual property rights. It has established the first batch of national-level intellectual property protection centers and the only technology achievement transformation center in Guangdong universities.

As of March 2023, Foshan has collaborated with 78 research institutions, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tsinghua University, to establish several technological platforms such as Jihua Laboratory and Xianhu Laboratory. In 2010, the "Outline of the Planning for the Construction of a Cultural Strong Province in Guangdong (2011-2020)" was officially released, highlighting Foshan Media Group and the Guangdong Industrial Design City located in Shunde as key entities to be strengthened.
