Zhefang Rice 遮放贡米

Zhengfang rice is a special local product in Mangshi that is produced in Zhengfang Bason. It tastes fragrant and delicious, and it’s soft and sticky and nutrient because of the special whether conditions. It had been a tribute from Mangshi to the king in every dynasties in the history. You can find it in some stores that sell rice.

 

Dai Brocade 傣锦

Dai Brocade is a traditional handicraft art product. It has very strong Dai minority style and some new styles that are suitable for people from different places. It uses spun yarn and bamboo to weave. It has very long history and is unique and exquisite. What’s more, specification and style are customized.

Jade and stone玉石

Mangshi has some jades and stones wholesale market. Because it’s closed to Burma where has rich jade and stone resource, its jade and stone are very cheap, and beautiful. 

Mangshi Dai Ethnic Bamboo Wares 芒市傣族竹编

A saying goes among the Dai ethnic minority, "She who can't work loom is not a real Xiaopushao (girl in Dai dialect), and he who can't braid bamboo wares is not a real Xiaopumao (boy in Dai dialect)". It's true because a Dai ethnic member might conventionally not be preferred as a candidate for fiancé and fiancée if he or she doesn’t master one skill.   Mangshi (former Luxi) of Dehong Prefecture in southwestern Yunnan abounds in bamboo resource whose richness might go beyond one's imagination for other bamboo resource elsewhere of Yunnan.

Emeralds 翡翠

Ruili, take its location advantage for adjacent Burma, is one of the most important trade center of emeralds in China. Large quantity of top-qualitied emeralds has enticed many tourists or buyer from Beijing, Shanghai or Hongkong. Ruili also gained the praise as “Emeralds of Yunnan, Emeralds from Ruili”.

Mahogany 红木

Ruili once acted as transfer station for the transaction of valuable timers. In 2008, the mahogany suddenly gained its popularity. The export volume soared dramatically. Ever since that, the businessmen gathered in Ruili and expanded the mahogany into a completed industrial chain. By now, Ruili has become the most competitive trade center of mahogany in western China.

Tree Fossil Jade 树化玉

Tree fossil jade is one of the most precious articles in geography field. Burma is the country where you can even pick up the tree fossil jade in the street. Ruili enjoys the natural location advantage, so it is also well-known for its tree fossil jade business.

Although there are not many shops in Dehong to purchase these goods, there are many stands and carts selling these minority treasures and at more than reasonable prices.
