In recent years, there are many tourism festivals administered by regional governments, who organize tourism festivals in order to make local scenic locations better known to people. 1. Harbin Ice and Snow Festival(哈尔滨冰雪节)
It is an annual winter festival that takes place with a theme in Harbin, Heilongjiang, China, and now is the largest ice and snow festival in the world. It has since become an international festival and competition, with the 2017 festival attracting 18 million visitors. The festival includes the world’s biggest ice sculptures. 2. Luoyang Peony Fair(洛阳牡丹花会)
Following over 1,500 years of planting history, there are now over 610 varieties of peonies. The fair is very popular among Chinese tourists and peony enthusiasts the world over. 3. Qingdao International Beer Festival(青岛国际啤酒节)
The festivals feature artistic parades, “Beer Carnival” games, beer tasting, drinking contests, music, food, interactive performances, various brewery beer tents, trade exhibitions, gala performances, carnival amusement park games and rides, and even bikini model contests. 4. Qufu International Confucius Culture Festival(曲阜国际孔子文化节)
The Qufu International Confucius Culture Festival is held in Qufu City, hometown of Confucius. It is one of the major international festivals to commemorate Confucius’ outstanding contribution to human culture and traditional Chinese culture. 5. Huangshan Mountain International Tourist Festival(中国黄山国际旅游节)
Huangshan Mountain International Tourist Festival has been a favourite event and attracts numerous visitors from all over the world since its first time held in 1991. 6. Pingyao International Photography Festival(平遥国际摄影大展)
Pingyao International Photography Festival (PIP) has been among the most famous Photography festival ever since its first year 2011, which is held during the latter half of September per year. 7. Shanghai Tourism Festival(上海旅游节)
Shanghai Tourism Festival (STF) is a large-scale tourism celebrating event held since 1990. Over 1,300 performers from 25 countries and regions celebrated the opening of Shanghai Tourism Festival in 2018. There is a record of 12.75 million visitors from China and abroad. 8. Hainan International Tourism Island Carnival(海南国际旅游岛欢乐节)
Hainan International Tourism Island Carnival is not only a festival for the local people, but also a platform for tourism development and international exchanges. It is held every year since 2000, by Hainan government and China’s National Tourism Administration, and lasts for over one month.
