Yuntai Mountain

Yuntai Mountain is situated in Xiuwu County, about 30 kilometers from Jiaozuo City, Henan Province. The park is approximately 190 square kilometers in size. The park has 36 mountains, 20 caves, countless lakes, streams, springs, and waterfalls. The park’s main peak, Zhuyu Peak, or Cornel Peak, has an elevation of 1304 meters. Situated within Yuntai Geo park, with a fall of 314 metres, Yuntai waterfall is claimed as the tallest waterfall in China.

Main Attractions in Yuntai Mountain

Red Stone Gorge, a stone with ripple marks, Yuntai MountainRed Stone Gorge is a valley with steep cliffs of red rocks standing straight up on both sides. It is the geologic relic of a crustal movement that took place 1.4 billion years ago, and rare Danxia landform in northern China. This gorge gathers many springs, waterfalls, streams, pools and gullies, so it is named ‘the corridor of superfine landscape’ by garden experts.

Deep pool waterfall is located a little north west of Yuntai Mount; it is the main source of water for Zifang Lake. The channel it runs is about 1270 meters long, the stream that runs here is called little dragon creek, it’s bed rock is made up of different colored stones, different sized stones, wide, narrow ones, and unique natural rock steps.

Tanpu GorgeAmong the landscape gallery of Yuntai Mountain, Tanpu Gorge is nature’s masterpiece.The water scenery in this valley is imposing with mountains and unique rocks. Located in the north of Yuntai Mountain, the 1,270 meters long gorge travels from south to north. A Y-shaped waterfall hangs between two mountains with a drop of more than 10 meters. Here many deep pools are formed by the cascading waters.

From Zhengzhou, there is only one bus runs to Yuntai Mountain Scenic Area at 08:30 every morning at Long-distance Bus Station;

The Best Time to Visit

July to September is the best time to visit the waterfall as it may be without water at other time.

Schedule of performances

Taiji performances begin at 09:00, 10:00, 11:00 in the morning, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00 in the afternoon at Xiaozhaogou (Little Village Valley) square, and the each performance lasts for 30 minutes;

Macaque performances start at 09:00, 10:00, 11:00 in the morning, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00 in the afternoon Macaque Valley.
