Why is Yalong Bay So Special?
With the average temperature of a pleasant 78 °F (25.5 °C) all year round, Yalong Bay is situated in the southernmost part of Hainan Province, about 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) away from the tropical seaside tourist city, Sanya. The scenery is amazing, with endless rolling hills, serene gulfs, clear blue sea and silvery sand beaches – three times as long as any in Hawaii. Home to several well-preserved coral reefs with tropical fish of varied kinds, colors and shapes, the ocean here is crystal clear, allowing visitors to view underwater sights up to 10 meters (33 feet) deep from the surface.
Where is Yalong Bay?
Yalong Bay, located 28 kilometers southeast of Sanya City, is a half-moon bay at the southernmost tip of Hainan, with a total length of about 7.5 kilometers. It is one of the famous sights in Hainan.

National Resort Center
The National Resort Center covers an area of 18.6 square kilometers. It is a seaside park, which brings together luxury villa resorts, conference centers, upscale hotels, undersea landscapes, maritime sports centers, golf courses, yacht clubs, etc.
Yalong Bay Central Square
The square is surrounded by mountains on three sides and crescent-shaped on the other side facing the sea. This is a good place for rock climbing and many water sports. There is a 27-meter-high totem pole in the center of the square, which is a landmark of the square. There are also four top tents on the square, which look like white sails on all sides.
Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park
Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park covers 1506 hectares. This is the first forest park in Sanya. The park can be used for mountaineering and exploration, leisure activities, healthy vacations, folk cultural experiences, etc. As the forest coverage of the park is very high, its nickname is natural forest oxygen bar.
Shell Museum & Butterfly Valley
Yalong Bay Butterfly Valley is located in the northern part of Yalong Bay National Resort. Entering the butterfly-shaped butterfly exhibition hall, you will see various colored butterflies displayed in the five exhibition halls. Every beautiful person!
Yalong Bay Shell Museum is located next to the Central Square. It covers an area of 3000 square meters and is the first museum with shells. The museum has five different exhibition halls, displaying more than 300 typical representative shells. These two places are suitable for families with children to visit.

The weather in Sanya is like summer all year round, which is very good for tourists who don’t like cold winter at all. The best time to visit Sanya is from October to March of the following year. The sunshine is bright and the rainfall is less, avoiding the hottest time in summer and rainy season. In summer, the weather will be very hot and the ultraviolet rays will be very strong, and because it is summer vacation, more students and families will come to visit, so it will be very crowded. By the way, October to March is also the peak season. Hotel and flight prices will be higher. You’d better book your tickets in advance.

How to Get There
- 1. Buses 15, 24, 25, 27 are available. They respectively travel between Yalong Bay and Sanya Railway Station, Tianya Haijiao, Taoist Fairyland Park, and Phoenix International Airport.
- 2. Take a taxi to the destination. If you depart from downtown, the cost is around CNY 70. Remember you need to bargain with the driver.
Useful Travel Tips
- The beach is open for free all day long.
- Be sure to taste unique seafood and don’t miss special dishes like crystal and pearl ornaments.
- when eating seafood, drink some white wine and rice vinegar, but eating seafood is not suitable for drinking beer.
- Seafood is rich in high protein. People who are prone to protein allergy should not eat too much
- Pineapple and carambola cannot be eaten on an empty stomach. Especially people with diabetes can’t eat carambola
- There are many peddlers in Tianya and Haijiao. If you have no intention of buying, you’d better firmly refuse at the beginning.
