Why is Xinghai Square So Special?

Xinghai Square is is the largest city square in the world, covering a total area of 1.1 million square meters. Its name literally means “the Sea of Stars”. And it is the site of Dalian’s popular beer festival, and is a good place to people-watch, fly a kite, or just stroll about. Dalian residents come here day and night to take a walk, fly kites and sit down to just-caught seafood paired with a Qingdao beer at open-air restaurants.

Xinghai Square is located in the north of Xinghai Park and Xinghai Bay. The address of the square is Xinghai Bay, Shahekou District, Dalian City. The square lies about 8 km from Dalian Railway Station, and about 14 km from Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport.

Exhibition Center

Xinghai Convention and Exhibition Center is a landmark building in Dalian. Walk northwards for about 500 meters from the center of the square and you will reach the Exhibition Center. Dalian International Fashion Festival, Fireworks Festival, trade fairs and other large festivals or event are usually held in this center. 

Fountain Area

The diameter of music fountain in Xinghai Square is 140 meters, and the maximum spray height is 88 meters. The fountain can be find along the road.There are 50 groups of colorful music fountains in the central pedestrian Avenue of Xinghai Square. It is a good place to go at night, to enjoy the amazing night scenery.

Sculpture Square

There are many sculptures in Xinghai Square, mainly including Centennial City sculpture, bronze sculpture and modern sports sculpture. There are six groups of bronze sculptures in total, and 40 groups of sports sculptures. Tourists can find the  Centennial City sculpture at the southernmost end, a huge book sculpture is located on the south side near the sea, which is the highest point of Xinghai Square.
