How to Get There?
- From Dongzhimen Hub Station, take Bus 866/916 to Miaocheng Dong, and then cross the road to take Bus H58 to Qinglongxia.
- In peak travel season, you can take the Special Tourist Bus to Qinglongxia from Dongzhimen Outside Station at 8:30. It costs CNY30 for a single trip and returns to downtown at 16:00.
Shoal Area in the South
After entering the Qinglong gorge, tourists can walk or take the sightseeing bus to the south beach water area with an average depth of 1 m (3.3 ft), which is the best summer resort for boating or rafting. Other water entertainment, such as bumping a boat, can also be done.
When you arrive at the dam, you will see a smooth stone wall in the East. This is the spillway. In July and August every year, the river rises with the abundant rainfall in summer, forming a spectacular waterfall 12 meters (40 feet) wide and 50 meters (165 feet) high. The river roars down like a white dragon dancing in the fog.
Longxia Lake in the North
The large reservoir in the north of the dam is Longxia lake, which is the main water tourism area. The lake covers an area of 70 hectares (172 acres), with a water depth of 50 meters, picturesque boat or speedboat tours in the breeze. Along the way, there are many wonderful scenic spots, including fairyland in the fog, Golden Toad moon watching, hexagonal stone and turtle fairy at the end of the lake. There will be an outdoor swimming pool open in summer and an artificial beach.
Amusement Playground
The rich entertainment facilities in the East playground provide tourists with a lot of fun and exciting and challenging activities, such as bungee jumping at 70 meters (230 feet), climbing the wall at 25 meters (82 feet) and rapid descent at 28 meters (92 feet) are good choices.
