History of Putuo Zongcheng Temple

In the 36th year of Qianlong’s reign, in order to celebrate the 60th birthday of Emperor Qianlong and the 80th birthday of empress dowager, the leaders of various ethnic minorities in the border areas gathered in Chengde to hold a grand celebration of their birthday, which brought about an unprecedented situation of national unity. In order to respect the beliefs of all ethnic groups and unite the people of all ethnic groups, Emperor Qianlong ordered the construction of this large temple.

April to October is the best time to visit Putuo Zongcheng Temple.

Climate

The temple of putuozong has four distinct seasons, sufficient light and big temperature difference between day and night. The annual average temperature is about 8.8 ℃, and the annual frost free period is 160 days. Although it is cold in winter, the temperature is higher than that in other areas of the same latitude; in summer, it is cool, with concentrated rainfall and basically no hot period, so it is a tourist resort.

Accommodation

Chengde is not a big city. You can stay in Chengde hotel when you visit putuozong temple. Chengde’s accommodation is generally expensive (from the end of April to the beginning of October in the peak season, there are discounts in the off-season).

Attention

When entering the temple, we should pay attention to words, deeds and manners, especially not to speak when we are not polite.
