How to Get There

  • Take Subway Line 1 or Line 2, and get off at Jianguomen Station. Get out from Exit A, walk west along Jianguomen Inner Street for about four minutes, and then turn right to West Gongyuan Street and find China National Post and Postage Stamp Museum on the east side.
  • Take bus 1, 52, 99, 120, 126, 140, 637, or Special Line 2 and get off at Beijing Zhankou Dong Station.

Highlights

Covering an area of 23705 square meters, the warehouse area of 3000 square meters and the exhibition hall area of 5500 square meters, China National Post and Postage Stamp Museum is divided into three exhibition halls, which are named the Main Exhibition Hall, the Special Exhibition Hall and the Treasure Hall.

Main Exhibition Hall

Qing Dynasty Stamps

This part of the exhibition covers the history of modern China in the semi-feudal and semi-colonial society, from the Dragon stamps of the customs, Cixi birthday stamps, to the red stamps stamped and Panlong stamps issued after the establishment of the post of the Qing Dynasty.

Stamps in the Period of the Republic of China

This part of the exhibition shows some stamps of the three stages of the Republic of China, including Nanjing Provisional Government, Beijing government and Nanjing National Government. It reflects the political situation and society at that time, as well as the gradual diversification of stamp types in this period. It also reflects the development of the postal industry in the Republic of China. Stamp collecting activities have a certain mass basis.

Stamps during the Revolutionary War

This part of the exhibition mainly shows the stamps issued by the revolutionary bases during the Anti-Japanese War and the war of liberation. The design of Anti-Japanese War stamps takes propaganda and encouragement as the theme. During the war of liberation, stamps were framed by the six administrative regions that issued stamps.

A Collection of New China’s Commemorative Stamps and Special Stamps

This part of the exhibition includes all the stamps of Commemorative Stamps and Special Stamps, cultural revolution stamps, serially numbered stamps, and JT stamp.

Foreign Stamps

This part of the exhibition displays stamps from 42 countries, which are exchanged by the China Stamp Museum on behalf of China Post and member states of UPU.

Special Exhibition Hall and Treasure Hall

In this part of the exhibition hall, the original pictures of the stamps in the collection and the stamps and other cultural relics in various historical periods are displayed alternately.

  • Admission Fee: CNY 10; free for children under 3.9 feet (1.2m). Free for all on May 18, October 1, and October 9.
  • Opening Hours: Tuesday to Sunday: 9:00 – 16:00; ticket sale stops after 15:00. Closed on Monday.
