History
The mosque was founded during the Yuan Dynasty by Hui Muslims who had migrated from the northwest. These settlers were part of the military forces tasked with assisting in the development of the Panlong River region. The original structure was built along Jinniu Street.
During the Xianfeng Emperor’s reign in the Qing Dynasty, the mosque suffered significant damage from the Bingchen military rebellion. Thanks to donations from the Hui community, the mosque was rebuilt in 1889 (the 15th year of the Guangxu Emperor’s reign). This restoration expanded the main hall to five rooms and added important structures such as the prayer hall and the call-to-prayer tower.
In 1941, the mosque was again damaged by bombing during the Second Sino-Japanese War, but repairs were completed by 1943. Following several rounds of restoration, especially in recent years, the mosque has been fully renovated and restored to its original grandeur. In 1990, it was designated as a cultural heritage site.
