Hong Kong Transportation by Train may become the new popular mode of transport to and from the Mainland, thanks to its speed and the advanced technology it employs. It’s possible to visit Hong Kong from cities in Mainland China by both high speed trains and regular intercity train services. The Beijing–Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong high-speed railway (Hong Kong Section) runs from West Kowloon Railway Station and connects passengers to the national high-speed rail network. Visitors can travel directly between Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and at least 44 other Chinese cities and towns including Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai, Guilin, and Chengdu.
Major Railway Stations in Hong Kong
There are two major railway stations in Hong Kong: West Kowloon Railway Station and Hung Hom Railway Station. If you are traveling from Mainland China to Hong Kong or vice versa, then you may like to take a convenient fast train via the new West Kowloon Station. If you want to travel to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Dongguan, you can also take the intercity through trains at Hung Hom Railway Station.
HK West Kowloon Railway Station
HK West Kowloon Station is located near Kowloon MTR station and Austin MTR station, both of which are linked to West Kowloon Station via subway or footbridge (just 10 minutes walk). Passengers who want to go to West Kowloon Station by MTR can get to Kowloon Station or Austin Station first, then walk to West Kowloon Train Station. HK West Kowloon Station operates 114 pairs of short-distance trains to destinations including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Humen, Guangmingcheng and Qingsheng, as well as 13 pairs of long-distance trains run to major cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Changsha, Hangzhou, Nanchang, Zhengzhou, Wuhan, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Quanzhou, Guiyang, Kunming, Zhuzhou, Shijiazhuang, Jinhua, Zhangzhou, and etc.

How to Get There: passengers can reach West Kowloon Terminus easily and soon whether by taxi or by bus and MTR, you can take Bus 36B, 36X, 42A, 60X, and Hong Kong MTR Tung Chung Line (东涌线) and Airport Express (机场快线) can take you to Kowloon Station, and West Rail Line (西铁线) will transfer you to Austin Station. Besides, there are new green tourist buses and more bus routes have been operated for transfer convenience.
Hung Hom Railway Station
Located in the Yau Tsim Mong District of Kowloon, Hung Hom Station (formerly known as Kowloon Station) is a terminal station on the East Rail Line and West Rail Line in Hong Kong. It is the terminus for trains to major cities in China including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, as well as Zhaoqing, Foshan, Dongguan in Guangdong. Nowadays, besides taking the bullet train, you can also take a fast through train to and from Guangzhou East Railway Station every day for about 2 hours.
