What to Buy

  • Sweet Paddy of Qufu(曲阜香稻): It is planted in Qufu. And it originates from Zhou Dynasty. In Qianlong period, it was planted became famous for its fragrant.
  • Wine of Qufu(曲阜酒): It is a kind of wine of Lu, and is the oldest wine in Shandong. It is made of sorghum that is of high quality. Besides, the water used in the process of brewing must be fresh water from fountain.
  • Pastries of Kong Family (孔府糕点): All these pastries belong to the Kong Family Feast. In the past, only the emperor, the host of the Confucius mansion can enjoy it. Now, they are available to everyone.
  • Ink Stone of Nishan Mountain (尼山砚): It is one of the traditional Chinese ink stones, and it became famous because materials that are used to make ink stones are from Nishan Mountain where is the birthplace of Confucius. The Nishan Mountain inkstone has a history of more than 500 years. It is recorded that the Nishan Mountain ink stone was listed as a tribute to the imperial palace in the twenty-fourth year of the Ming Dynasty.
  • Kai Wood Carving of Qufu(楷雕): Kai wood carving is a unique traditional handicraft in Qufu, Shandong Province. It's made from a special wood. It is said that the plant was grown in the Confucian Confucius Cemetery by Zigong, a disciple of Confucius, when he came back to Qufu to grieve for Confucius from the South.

Where to Buy

Qufu is a tourist city, and the shopping center of Qufu is mainly concentrated in the Confucian Temple. There are many shopping centers in Qufu, such as Wumaci Street, Gulou South Street, Baiyi Shopping Center, etc.

Wumaci Street
Wumaci Street is the earliest and largest commercial street in Qufu City. It is near to the east gate of the Confucian Temple and is very popular with visitors. Shopping malls and shops are all over the street so that it is convenient for visitors to purchase specialty products, clothing and souvenirs, and so on. More importantly, the price is affordable.

Gulou South Street
It is a busy shopping street on the east side of the Confucian Temple. There are all sorts of shops where tourists could buy some local specialties and souvenirs, like Kai wood carving of Qufu City, paper-cut Album of Weishan Lake, Nishan Mountain ink stone, etc.

Baiyi Shopping Center
It is located in Hongdao Road, Qufu. And it opens from 9 o’clock to 21 o’clock. It mainly sells alcohol and tobacco, non-staple food, daily necessities and so on.
