Mount Everest (Qomolangma) is the main peak of Himalayas, which is located in the boundary between China and Nepal with its north slope in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and its south slope in Nepal. In Tibetan language, 'Qomo' means nymph and 'Langma' means the third because there are four peaks around Mount Everest and it ranked the third. As the highest peak in the world, the height of Mount Everest is 8,844.43 meters according to the measurement of China's state bureau of surveying and mapping.

2. What to Pack
Sunglasses is absolutely necessary for all seasons to protect your eyes from ultraviolet radiation and glisten of the snow (especially when your destination is Mount Everest); suntan lotion, skin cream and lipstick are also essential in the dry air and scalding sunlight, so, dear sirs and ladies, don’t be careless just because you do not care, for there are really some guys who left with burnt noses.

- Tibet Travel Permit: You will not even be permitted to board a flight or a train to Tibet.
- Border Permit: It is necessary to get into Mount Everest, which can be handled in Lhasa and Shigatse. And foreign tourists had better ask travel agency to manage.
3. Best Time to Visit Mount Everest
It is recommended to get to Mount Everest during April to July and September to October. Every October to next April, the severe cold weather makes it tough to have a trip. And every July to August is the rainy season of Mount Everest resulting in the bad climbing condition and heavy fog.
4. Environment Protection of Mount Everest
The protection zone of Mount Everest covers an area of 35000 square kilometers, including Nyalam, Tingri, Tingri and Gyirong. When tourists get into the protection zone of Mount Everest, they should get the entry permit that give clear indication of protection notes. When go hiking, please don't tread on or pluck any plant. Please carry off all the rubbish or throw them into specified trash can.
5. Photography of Mount Everest
Many tourists get to Mount Everest not only for mountaineering but also for shooting a gorgeous picture. It is easy to shoot beautiful photo in Mount Everest. However, if you would like to make innovation or create special photo with strong visual impact, patience and luck are necessary.
1) Best season: The golden time for photography is one hour before or after the sunrise and sunset. And usually, the Mount Everest in sunset shooting from Rongbuk Monastery is more charming than that in sunrise.

- Old Tingri Qomolangma Viewing Deck: It's easy to shoot the distant view of Mount Everest in the sunset and sunrise.
- Zhegula Col: the great place to shoot Lhotse, Cho Oyu and Makalu.
- Rongbuk Monastery: the best view to shoot Mount Everest.
- Everest Base Camp: You should tickle your mind a bit if you would like to take a good photo.
6. Physical Fitness for Mountaineering
Normally, if you have good economic base and healthy body, you can make preparation for climbing the Mount Everest. And it's not easy job because you may need three to four years to do your preparation work. Firstly, you can do outdoor activities in low altitude place, physical training and learn basic mountaineering skills to practice your endurance, cardio-pulmonary function and strength. Secondly, you had better experience two or three mountaineering in highland before you get into Mount Everest. Healthy people can start your trip in the peak of 6,000 meters, then 7,000 meters and finally 8,000 meters. Lastly, it's the last important preparation stage. In this period, you need to throw yourself into physical training.
7. Altitude Sickness
Due to the high altitude, many tourist may feel sick and dizzy when they first come to Tibet. It’s recommended to take medicines to pretend from the altitude reaction before starting your trip. And the local drugstores in Lhasa sell medicines against altitude sickness. And please delay your trip to Tibet if you have a cold.
