Climate of Chuxiong

As with much of the province, Chuxiong experiences a mildsubtropical highland climate (Köppen Cwb). Winters are mild and very dry and sunny, although average lows in January are barely above the freezing mark; December and January both have a 24-hour average temperature of 8.7 °C (47.7 °F). Spring begins early and remains dry and sunny until late May, when there is a dramatic uptick in frequency and amount of rainfall that lasts until late September. Summers are warm, rainy and generally overcast, with June, the warmest month, averaging 21.4 °C (70.5 °F). Autumn sees an abrupt reduction in rainfall and return to sunniness. The annual mean temperature is 16.00 °C (60.8 °F), while precipitation averages 863 mm (34.0 in), more than 70% of which occurs from June to September. With monthly percent possible sunshine ranging from 28% in July to 70% in February, the city receives 2,177 hours of bright sunshine annually. 

Best Time to Visit Chuxiong

With favorable weather all year round, Chuxiong is a beautiful place worth traveling, especially from March to October-the best time to visit Chuxiong when blooming flowers, ripe fruits and festival activities all gather together.

However, there is also something that tourists should notice in four seasons.

Spring (March to May): Because the weather in Chuxiong is a bit dry, suggested that tourists drink more water and eat more fruit and vegetables. And pay attention to the large temperature changes between day and night.

Summer (June -August): Due to the strong UV radiation and changeable weather,  tourists had better wear sun hats, sun glasses and sunscreen. And drink more water against dry weather and altitude sickness.

Autumn (September to October): From May to October is the rainy season in Chuxiong, if it rains the temperature will be lower, so tourists have better to take a windcoat and light sweater.

● Winter (November to February): The average temperature in Chuxiong is the coldest month, which will be 6 degree to 8 degree. People who are easily getting cold would better bring down jacket.
