Where is Xiasi Ancient Town

Xiasi ancient town is located in the upper reaches of Qingshui River, South by west of Kaili City, adjacent to Majiang County in the west, Yatang street in Kaili City in the East, Xingshan town in Majiang County in the west, Xuanwei town in Majiang County in the South and Fuquan City in the north. It spans between 107 ° 42 ′ 3 ″ – 53 ′ 9 ″ E and 26 ° 26 ′ 29 ″ – 34 ′ 3 ″ n.

History of Xiasi Ancient Town

In the 13th year of Jiaqing (1808 A.D.), Xiasi was turned into a commercial port, which developed into a downtown area in the Republic of China. There were water and land docks. The commerce and trade here was still very prosperous. There were people trading here in counties and cities near the market, which was one of the larger rural markets in Qiandongnan Prefecture.

Main Attractions of Xiasi Ancient Town

With Qingshui River as the link, Xiasi scenic spot integrates natural scenery, history and culture as well as national customs, with 52 sceneries.

Cultural relics and historic sites include: Xiasi ancient town, ancient wharf, streets and lanes, Miao Diaojiaolou, xiatong and zhuangyuandi, Yuwang Palace site, Guanyin Pavilion and Wenchang Pavilion, etc.

Ethnic customs mainly include: Miao farmers’ paintings in Tonggu village, more than 120 farmers engaged in modern folk painting, hundreds of works were exhibited and won prizes at home and abroad, some were sent to museums for collection, and Majiang county was named “modern folk painting town of China” by the Ministry of culture. The Miao people in Baiyang village are mysterious, simple and primitive, attracting tens of thousands of Chinese and foreign tourists to visit. The Yao people’s songs and dances and batik in Heba are appreciated and favored by the majority of tourists.
