The bird watching in Yunnan and Guizhou are popular among bird lovers. During this tour, we will watch the seagull at Kunming Dianchi Lake Dam, then head to bird at the Nianhu Lake in Huize, Caohai Lake in Weining, Zhaotong Dashanbao Nature Reserve in Zhaotong.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Kunming Arrival

Sightseeing and Activities: Kunming Dianchi Lake Dam

Arrive in Kunming this morning, drive to Kunming Dianchi Lake Dam for bird( seagull) watching. Diandhi Lake Dam, on the eastern shore of the Dianchi Lake, is one of the popular sites in Kunming. During the Chinese New Year Festival, herds of locals and tourists will gather here to feed seagulls and admire scenery of the West Hill.

Day 2 Kunming – Huize – Nianhu Lake

Sightseeing and Activities: Nianhu Lake Black-necked Crane Nature Reserve
Accommodation: Nianhu Lake
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

This morning, drive about 270km from Kunming to Daqiao Township of Huize County. Then visit Nianhu Lake Black-necked Crane Nature Reserve. After the sunset, go back the hotel.

Day 3 Nianhu Lake – Huize

Sightseeing and Activities: Nianhu Lake
Accommodation: Huize
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Get up early in the morning and walk to Lijiawan village by passing through mountain road, where we can have a panoramic view of Nianhu Lake and see the black-necked crane flying over when the sun is rising. Have a rest in the hotel at noon. Then go on your bird watching at Nianhu Lake at about 3:00 pm.

In the evening, drive back to Huize County for overnight.

Day 4 Huize – Weining County

Sightseeing and Activities: Caohai Birds Viewing Platform
Accommodation: Weining County
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Today we will drive to Weining County in Guizhou. On the way, have many stops to watch birds and enjoy beautiful scenery. After arrival, head to Caohai Birds Viewing Platform for birding. Afterwards, stay overnight in Weining County.

Day 5 Caohai Lake

Sightseeing and Activities: Caohai Lake
Accommodation: Caohai Lake
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

A whole day for bird watching at Caohai Lake.

Day 6 Caohai Lake – Zhaotong

Sightseeing and Activities: Caohai Lake
Accommodation: Zhaotong
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Continue the bird watching at Caohai Lake till noon. After lunch, drive to Zhaotong City for overnight.

Day 7 Zhaotong – Dashanbao

Sightseeing and Activities: Xianrentian, Tiaodun Lake, Jigongshan Mountain
Accommodation: Dashanbao
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

After breakfast, drive about 235km to Dashanbao township of Zhaotong City, located in the northeast corner of Yunnan province of Southwest China.

On the way, we will pass through a meadow – “Xianrentian” and visit Tiaodun Lake. Afterwards climb up to Jigongshan Mountain to enjoy the sunset.

Day 8 Dashanbao

Sightseeing and Activities: Dahaizi
Accommodation: Dashanbao
Meals: Breakfast

Get up early in the morning and we will drive to Dahaizi in Dashanbao Black-necked Crane Nature Reserve at about 6:00 am. Enjoy the sunrise here and have a full day bird watching. In the late afternoon, drive back to hotel.

Day 9 Dashanbao – Zhaotong – Kunming

Today we will drive back to Kunming and escort you to the airport for your flight. Service ends.
