In the morning, guests will be picked up from their hotel in Putian City (莆田市) and driven to Zhongmen Wharf (忠门码头) (approximately 2.5 hours). From there, board a ferry to the Meizhou Island National Tourism Resort (湄洲岛国家旅游度假区) (round-trip ferry included). Meizhou Island, the second-largest island in Putian City, covers an area of 14.35 square kilometers and comprises over 30 islands, islets, and reefs. The island is often referred to as the “Penglai of the South” (南国蓬莱), featuring stunning attractions such as the captivating Meiyu Tide Sound (湄屿潮音), the “Hawaii of the East” Jiubao Lan Golden Sand Beach (九宝澜黄金沙滩), and the unique rock formations of Ewei Rock (鹅尾怪石), among more than 30 scenic spots. It is also home to the Mazu ancestral temple (妈祖祖庙), cherished by over 200 million Mazu devotees.
During the tour, take in the breathtaking ocean views, visit the Mazu temple, and explore ancient relics. You will also tour the Mazu Cultural Park (妈祖文化公园), which features a stone statue of Mazu, viewing platforms, pavilions, group sculptures depicting Mazu stories, a stone forest dedicated to Mazu, and cliff carvings. The park’s most famous feature is the Mazu statue, standing 14.35 meters high atop the island’s highest peak, symbolizing the total area of the island. The statue faces southeast, gazing towards the Mazu statue at the North Port (北港) in Taiwan. Draped in a celestial robe and crowned, the statue radiates kindness and expresses hope for lasting peace across the Taiwan Strait.
Lunch is at your own expense. Next, visit The Golden Sand Beach (黄金沙滩) (no admission fee; transportation fee of 20 RMB per person), the longest, largest, and most enchanting beach on the island. It is bordered by lush green forests to the north and vast blue waves to the south, connecting to the famous Sanwan Beach (三湾滩) to the east and a 3000-ton passenger terminal (3000吨对台客运码头) to the west. The beach stretches 3000 meters long and 300-500 meters wide, with a gentle slope of 5%, creating a natural seaside bathing area and an ideal summer vacation retreat. The tour concludes with a return to your hotel in Putian City.
