Overview

Miliuqiao Hui Ethnic Township (Miliuqiao Huizu Xiang, 么六桥回族乡) is one of two ethnic minority townships in Tianjin, located in the central area of Dongli District. It is bordered to the east by Junliangcheng, to the west by Tianjin Binhai International Airport and Xinli Town, to the south by the Beijing-Shanghai Railway, and to the north by Huaming Town and Chitu Town. The township is approximately 15 kilometers from downtown Tianjin and 38 kilometers from Tianjin New Port, with the Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu Expressway and Tianjin-Binhai Expressway running through the area.

Miliuqiao Township governs 13 administrative villages, covering a total area of 20.06 square kilometers and a population of 11,640 residents, of which 2,600 are of Hui ethnicity. The local economy primarily focuses on industries such as weaving, machinery, chemicals, and food production. In recent years, there has been a growth in private and individual businesses, contributing to the economic development of several villages. The tertiary sector mainly includes dining, entertainment, and commerce, concentrated along both sides of Jibei Road. To accelerate local economic growth and improve residents’ living standards, the township has established a ten-year national economic development plan for 2001-2010.

The current 13 administrative villages will be consolidated into a single urbanized residential area, with a planned average living space of 25 square meters per person.
