Liuzhou Wolong Lake Golf Club

Wolong Lake Golf Club in Liuzhou City(柳州卧龙湖高尔夫俱乐部) in Guangxi, an autonomous region in southern China, is the site of the event that runs from February 26-March 2. Wolong Lake Golf Club first hosted a PGA TOUR Series-China Qualifying Tournament in 2015, with Wenyi Huang winning by seven shots.

The Mainland China Qualifying Tournament is the third of three Qualifying Tournaments that will help determine membership for the 2018 PGA TOUR Series-China season. Two International Qualifying Tournaments take place at Mission Hills Golf Club on back-to-back weeks in late-January, early February.

PGA TOUR Series-China’s fourth season is anticipated to begin in mid-March, with a full schedule released later. There will be 14 Regular Season tournaments in 2018, with each event offering a purse of RMB 1.5 million, a 25-percent increase from previous seasons.

The application to enter the Mainland China Qualifying Tournament is now open. Players can apply at PGATOURSERIESCHINA.COM. http://www.pgatourserieschina.com/qschools/en/ Entry fees will once again be ¥ 9,000.

“The fact we play this Tour in China accentuates the importance of the Mainland China Qualifying Tournament. We will continue to identify the best, up-and-coming players emerging from China, and many will come through this Qualifying Tournament,” said PGA TOUR Series-China Managing Director Greg Carlson.

“We are committed to growing the game in China and providing a high-level Tour for Chinese players to test their abilities against players from other nations. This Qualifying Tournament will very much look like a Regular Season PGA TOUR Series-China event, with 72 holes of play on a challenging golf course.”

Since the beginning of PGA TOUR Series-China, in 2014, seven players from China have won 14 total tournaments, with 2016 Player of the Year Zecheng (Marty) Dou winning four times and 2014 Player of the Year Haotong Li capturing three titles. Dou is a rookie on the PGA TOUR in 2017-18 after earning membership via his excellent play on the 2017 Web.com Tour.

“We have a strong history with players from China, and we have watched a significant number of them develop their abilities on PGA TOUR Series-China and then move on to the next level,” Carlson added. “That’s the purpose of this Tour and what it can mean to players’ careers.”
