Gonghe County Library of Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture

Overview

The Gonghe County Library (共和县图书馆) was established in 1951 and is affiliated with the Gonghe County Bureau of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Broadcasting. The new library officially opened in April 2019 and is located on Heping Road in the North New District of Gonghe County, with a total construction area of 3,964 square meters.

Construction Achievements

On December 18, 2023, the library was rated as a “Second-Class Library” by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Collection Resources

The library boasts a rich array of literature resources and complete supporting facilities. As of the end of 2021, it has a collection of over 35,000 printed books, more than 1.4 million e-books, over 5,000 thematic resources, 160,000 videos, and more than 300 types of newspapers. Additionally, there are more than 210 reading seats available, along with 12 computers for reader use.

Institutional Development

The library is well-equipped with departments and terminal devices. It has 14 reading rooms, including a Children’s Reading Room, Special Group Reading Room, Chinese Reading Room (I and II), Current Periodicals Reading Room, Open Stack Lending Room, Digital Resources Reading Room, Tibetan Reading Room, and Local Literature Reading Room, as well as an exhibition hall and multimedia classrooms. The library also provides various auxiliary functional areas, equipped with 1 children’s reading machine, 1 newspaper lending machine, 1 all-media science popularization reading machine, and 1 e-reader.

Services Offered

The library offers a range of free basic services year-round, including document processing, lending and reading, literature retrieval and consulting, mobile and volunteer services, grassroots guidance and training, reader activities, and personalized services. In addition, it provides convenient services such as free drinking water and storage for readers. Unless special circumstances arise, the library is open for over 360 days each year.
