Overview
Jiangkou Town is located in the northeastern part of Ningxia County (宁陕县), Ankang City (安康市), Shaanxi Province (陕西省). It borders Jinchuan Town (金川镇) to the east, Chengguan Town (城关镇) to the south, Crown Town (皇冠镇) to the west, and Guanghuojie Town (广货街镇) to the north. The town covers a total area of 472 square kilometers, with a maximum east-west distance of 39 kilometers and a maximum north-south distance of 29.2 kilometers. As of June 2020, Jiangkou administers 1 community and 7 administrative villages, with a registered population of 8,900 as of the end of 2018.
Historical Development
Jiangkou Town gets its name from its location at the confluence of rivers entering the Xun River (旬河).
- 1912: After the founding of the Republic of China, it belonged to the fourth and fifth protective areas of Xunjiang Township (旬江乡).
- 1950: Established Jiangkou and Gaoqiao Townships (江口乡、高桥乡).
- 1961: Formed Jiangkou Commune (江口公社).
- September 1984: Renamed to Jiangkou Township (江口乡).
- December 1996: Designated as Jiangkou Town (江口镇).
- November 2001: Incorporated Shaping Township (沙坪乡).

Geography
Location
Jiangkou Town is situated in the northeastern part of Ningxia County, bordered by Jinchuan Town, Chengguan Town, Crown Town, and Guanghuojie Town.
Terrain and Climate
Jiangkou is located on the southern slopes of the Qinling Mountains (秦岭) and the upper reaches of the Xun River. The terrain is characterized by higher elevations in the northwest and lower elevations in the southeast, with a primarily mountainous topography. The highest point is at Jinjiliang (锦鸡梁) with an elevation of 2,188 meters, while the lowest point is at Wawuping in Zhushan Village (竹山村) at 882 meters.
Water Resources
The river system in Jiangkou is part of the Yangtze River Basin, specifically the Han River (汉江) system. The main river, Xun River, flows through the area for 20 kilometers.

Jiangkou has approximately 17,000 acres of arable land, 3,870 acres of usable grassland, and 110,000 acres of forest land.
Natural Disasters
Jiangkou Town experiences several natural disasters, including low temperatures, droughts, hail, floods, mudslides, and landslides. The most severe flood occurred on June 9, 2002.

As of the end of 2011, the total population of Jiangkou Town was 9,578, including a floating population of 295. Among the total population, there were 4,994 males (52.1%) and 4,584 females (47.9%). In 2011, the birth rate was 8.6‰, the death rate was 4.6‰, and the natural population growth rate was 4‰. The population density is 20 people per square kilometer.
