The airport is just 5 km from the city center, accessible by airport shuttle buses or taxis (around RMB 25). From there, you can easily reach the grassland area.
Hailar Dongshan Airport (HLD) offers flights to various cities, including Beijing, Hohhot, Shanghai, and Shenyang. Be sure to check flight schedules prior to your trip.
By Train
Traveling by train is also convenient, given the extensive rail network. Trains connect Beijing with Hailaer, as well as other cities like Baotou, Hohhot, Harbin, and Dalian.
Trains to Hailaer depart from either Beijing Railway Station or Beijing North Railway Station. As of August 2014, four trains (K19, K274/K275/K277, K39/K41, and K1301) operate daily, with a journey time of approximately 30 hours.
Hailar Railway Station is situated in the northwestern part of the town, and a taxi ride to a hotel in the city center costs about RMB 12.
