Overview

Houji Huizu Town is located in the eastern part of Cao County (曹县), Heze City (菏泽市), Shandong Province (山东省). It is bordered by Suji Town (苏集镇) and Chengwu County’s Tiangong Town (成武县天宫镇) to the east, Sun Laojia Town (孙老家镇) to the south, Wangji Town (王集镇) to the west, and Guyingji Town (古营集镇) to the north. The town covers an area of 57.52 square kilometers.

As of 2018, the registered population was 47,540.

Historical Development

  • 1735: During the reign of Emperor Yongzheng, the area was part of Jingshan Village (景山里) and Xiangshan Village (向善里).
  • March 1956: Became part of Sun Laojia District (孙老家区) in Cao County.
  • 1957: Sun Laojia District was abolished, and Houji Township (侯集乡) was established.
  • 1958: Established as Huojian Commune (火箭公社).
  • 1962: Renamed Houji Commune (侯集公社).
  • December 1983: Abolished the commune and established Houji Town (侯集镇).
  • November 1984: Renamed to Houji Huizu Town (侯集回族镇).

As of June 2020, Houji Huizu Town governs 20 administrative villages.

Geography

Houji Huizu Town is situated in the eastern part of Cao County, bordered by Suji Town to the east, Tiangong Town to the southeast, Sun Laojia Town to the south, Wangji Town to the west, and Guyingji Town to the north. The total area of the town is 57.52 square kilometers.

Population

By the end of 2011, the total population of Houji Huizu Town was approximately 43,800, with a permanent urban population of 9,986 and an urbanization rate of 22.8%. In 2018, the registered population was 47,540.

Transportation

As of the end of 2011, Houji Huizu Town was traversed by major highways, including Xuduan Highway (许单公路) and Gunan Highway (古南公路). The town features a bus station with approximately 60 bus departures per day, serving over 800 passengers daily.
