History of Zhenyuan County

Zhenyuan County was originally a settlement of Yi and Miao people. In the Southern Song Dynasty, the town was set up along the side of the river. Yuan was changed to Zhenyuan Military and People’s Government, and Guo’an County was attached. During the Hongwu Period of Ming Dynasty, the town was located in Yuanzhou and Zhenwei. During the Yongle period, the town of Yuanyuan, Fuzhou, Zhouzhou and Weitong were added. During the Hongzhi years, Zhenyuanwei was changed to a county. In 1913, the abolition of the county. In 1956, the Southeast Guizhou Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture was established. The original state was established in Zhenyuan and moved to Kaili in 1958.
