History of Sandu County
During the reign of Emperor Yongzheng, the Dujiang Hall and Dushan Prefecture were divided into the same place. In 1913, they were changed to Dujiang County and Sanhe County respectively. In 1941, Sanhe and Dujiang County were set up in Sandu County, and the second county was named first. On September 28, 1957, the Sandu Shui Autonomous County was changed.

On August 7, 2014, the provincial government approved the cancellation of Sanhe Town, Pu’an Town, Dahe Town, Fengle Town, Hejiang Town, Dujiang Town, Zhouyi Town and Ting Brand Town, Jiuyi Town, Zhonghe Town, Jiaoli Township, Lalan Township, Shuilong Township, Dayu Township, Bajie Township, Wubu Township, Yangfu Township, Tangzhou Township, Sandong Township, Hengfeng Township, Yang 21 townships (towns) such as Gongxiang, set up new Sanhe Street and Zhonghe Town, Zhouyi Town, Pu’an Town, Dahe Town, Dujiang Town and Jiuyi Town. The newly-built Sanhe Street governs the original Sanhe Town, Lalan Township and Xiangshui Village of Xiangshui Township, Weizhai Village, and the street office in the Yirenshan Community; the newly-established Zhonghe Town governs the original Zhonghe Town and Tangzhou. Township and the original Sandong Township (except Qunli Village) and Yuanshuilong Township (except Xiangzhai Village and Weizhai Village), the town government in Zhonghe Village; the newly-established Zhouyi Town governs the original Zhouyi Town and Tingpai Town. After adjustment, the county governs 1 street and 6 towns: Sanhe Street, Dahe Town, Pu’an Town, Dujiang Town, Zhonghe Town, Zhouyi Town and Jiuyi Town.
