History of Kizilsu
Kizilsu is an autonomous prefecture of Kyrgyz people in the west of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, China. The prefecture has an area of 69,112 km2 (26,684 sq mi) and its capital is Artux, meanwhile most of China’s border with Kyrgyzstan are located in this prefecture. Kizilsu in the Kyrgyz language means “red water”.
