Congtai Park (丛台公园)

Start your tour at Congtai Park, the symbol of Handan. Originally built during the reign of King Wuling of Zhao (赵国武灵王时期) over 2,000 years ago, it is a great place to experience the rich historical culture of the Zhao Kingdom. Famous Tang dynasty poets like Li Bai (李白), Du Fu (杜甫), and Wang Shuyuan (王树远) once composed poems here. The park’s unique beauty inspired lines such as “The peaceful, ancient Wuling Tai, where spring winds sway, and flowers bloom half-drunk with beauty.”

During spring, you can admire a variety of flowers, including winter jasmine, plum blossoms, magnolia, apricot blossoms, and cherry blossoms. The park also offers a fun photo opportunity where you can wear traditional Warring States robes (战国袍), making for some fabulous pictures!

Zhaoyuan Park (赵苑公园)

Next, head to Zhaoyuan Park, which is centered around the cultural legacy of the Zhao Kingdom from the Warring States period. The park preserves many historical sites, such as Arrow Insertion Ridge (插箭岭), Dressing Table (梳妆台), Arrow Casting Furnace (铸箭炉), and Zhaomei Pool (照眉池). The park also features a Chinese idiom garden (成语典故苑), with 58 idioms that originated in Handan, including famous ones like “Hu Fu Qi She” (胡服骑射), “Handan Learning to Walk” (邯郸学步), and “Mao Sui Recommends Himself” (毛遂自荐).

In spring, the park blooms with apricot flowers, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of the famous line “The spring is filling the garden, yet one apricot branch is boldly hanging over the wall.” You can take in the gentle beauty of the blossoms as they sway with the wind, and enjoy the delicate fragrance that fills the air.

Huangliangmeng Lüxian Shrine (黄粱梦吕仙祠)

The Huangliangmeng Lüxian Shrine, located in Handan, is the birthplace of the famous Chinese story “Huangliangmeng” (黄粱一梦), or the “Dream of Yellow Millet”. Established during the early Song Dynasty (北宋初期), it boasts an architectural style from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. This blend of northern and southern Chinese architectural elements offers a tranquil atmosphere perfect for a spring visit.

Spring adds an extra layer of charm with begonia flowers (海棠花) blooming around the shrine. The setting is perfect for snapping beautiful spring photos under the blossoms.

Huangliangmeng Zhen Guanhou Village (黄粱梦镇官后村)

Guanhou Village in Huangliangmeng Town is renowned for its vast sea of canola flowers. In May, the fields will be covered in a golden ocean of blooming flowers, offering an excellent opportunity for photography and relaxation. The canola flowers are not just a sight to behold—they fill the air with a strong, natural fragrance.

Located near the Fuyang River (滏阳河), the village also offers stunning views where the natural landscape blends perfectly with the water. On the first and sixth days of each month, Guanzhuang Daji (官庄大集) is held in the village, where visitors can enjoy a lively atmosphere full of food, crafts, and local goods.

Nanlüguxiang Pantaohua Sea (南吕固乡蟠桃花海)

In Nanlüguxiang, the Peach Blossom Sea (蟠桃花海) blooms from late March to early April. The pan-peach trees (蟠桃树), native to the area, create a mesmerizing sea of flowers, enveloping the landscape in fragrant beauty. Along with other spring flowers like plum blossoms (李子花) and beauty plum (美人梅), the area is a haven for nature lovers, offering visual and olfactory delight.

Nanlüguxiang Qifang Village Yuye Mei (南吕固乡七方村榆叶梅)

The village’s surroundings are transformed into a stunning pink sea of blossoms. The delicate flowers create a peaceful atmosphere that makes this village feel like a scene from a fairy tale.

The sunshine filtering through the flowers adds a soft glow to the area, making it an ideal spot for those seeking tranquility and picturesque views.

Xuebu Bridge & Blossoming Hawthorn (学步桥网红海棠花)

Located by the Qin River (沁河) near Xuebu Bridge, the hawthorn flowers (海棠花) are a major attraction. In spring, the branches are filled with beautiful pink and white blossoms, resembling delicate petals drifting in the breeze. As the wind moves the flowers, they gently fall, creating a poetic scene with the river below.

The Xuebu Bridge adds to the charm, with its ancient architecture perfectly complementing the beauty of the flowers. The clear river below reflects the blossoms and blue sky, creating a serene environment perfect for relaxation or a peaceful stroll.

Wisteria Flower (唯美紫藤花)

On the corner of Zhonghua North Street (中华北大街) and Congtai Road (丛台路), a magnificent wisteria flower (紫藤花) graces the streets. Its cascading clusters of flowers create a dreamy and enchanting atmosphere, perfect for leisurely walks and photos.

The wisteria blooms during spring, filling the air with a light fragrance, and the sun shines through the petals, casting beautiful, dappled shadows on the street below.
