Gulongxia Glass Bridge in Qingyuan

Qingyuan is a city about an hour north of Guangzhou, most well known for its chicken, but also for the beautiful caves and waterfalls. With a new glass bridge that opened in June 2018, Qingyuan makes for a good day trip from Guangzhou or even a two or three days trip from Hong Kong.

Qingyuan Gulong Canyon is located within the Gulongxia Scenic Area in Southern China’s Guangdong Province. In 2018 they opened both a cantilevered glass platform and a glass decked footbridge. Although not has high as similar glass bridge attractions in Western China, the Gulongxia Glass Platform does claim to be the longest of its type at 72 meters but the Wansheng Glass Platform in Chongqing Province is said to be longer at 86 meters.

One special element of the Gulongxia glass platform is the proximity to a beautiful waterfall with several cascades that tumble down into the tree-filled gorge.

The world’s widest glass bridge has officially opened at Qingyuan Gulong Canyon (Gulongxia Scenic Area). The whole project has an estimated expenditure of 238 Million Yuan. The structure is supported by three layers of tempered glass panels that are each 4.5cm thick which can withstand the weight of more than 20 tonnes. The amazing cantilevered bridge is known as Yun Tian Bo Ba, has been reputed as China’s “Glass Grand Canyon” due its similarities to the Grand Canyon Skywalk in the USA. It is said that Yun Tian Bo Ba is three times the length of The Grand Canyon Skywalk. Qingyuan is located in Guangdong Province and is only a one hour drive from Guangzhou
