Dongshan Lake Resort & Spa in Chaozhou
Dongshan Lake Resort & Spa (潮州东山湖温泉度假村) is the first national AAAA-level tourist attraction in Chaozhou City. It is located at the junction of Chaozhou, Shantou, and Jieyang cities, within the Dongshan Lake Scenic Area in Shaxi Town. Nestled among the mountains and by the water, this resort is blessed with unique resources, including a rare therapeutic mineral hot spring with a spring temperature of up to 100°C. This hot spring has become a favorite of famous figures from the Chaoshan region and beyond.
Location
The resort is situated at the junction of Chaozhou, Shantou, and Jieyang, with coordinates at 116.592423°E and 23.510815°N. It is approximately 2 km from the Shaxi exit of the Shanjie Expressway and about 20 km from the center of Chaozhou. It is also about 30 km from Shantou and Jieyang city centers.
Climate Conditions
The region has a subtropical maritime monsoon climate, with the months of June to October being affected by tropical cyclones, resulting in frequent heavy rain. In autumn, cold air from the north causes temperatures to drop, while winter is typically warm with northeast winds and very little chance of sub-zero temperatures.

Dongshan Hot Springs Mountain
Dongshan Hot Springs Mountain is designed as an artificial mountain that features the country’s first cave-style aerial hot spring. The building, with a total area of 6340 square meters, is shaped like a cave, with five levels, each 1.2 meters higher than the one below. The natural super-high-temperature hot springs (with a daily flow rate of 2,000 tons and water temperatures between 90°C and 104°C) create a lot of steam, which is used to power various thermal pools with different temperatures and styles. These include Finnish baths, Turkish baths, Japanese open-air baths, and Chinese and Thai herbal baths.
Meteor Shower Waterfall Area
This area is home to the largest artificial hot spring waterfall in eastern Guangdong, with a height of 16 meters. At night, the waterfall sparkles like a meteor shower, making it a visually spectacular attraction. The waterfall cascades down the cliff, resembling the Milky Way, and guests can enjoy a mesmerizing view while standing under the water curtain.

- Fishing Area (渔人码头): A fishing pier nestled among fragrant grasses by the lake.

The main minerals in the spring water include fluoride, silicon, strontium, lithium, and zinc. The water is colorless, transparent, and slightly alkaline, with high medicinal value, making it effective for treating conditions such as neuralgia, muscle pain, and joint pain. It is also known for its benefits in promoting health, improving skin, and relieving fatigue.
