How to Get & Leave There
Aviation
There is no airport in Tai’an where Mount Tai is located, and the closest one near Mount Tai is Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport which is about 110 miles from here. The airport offers 8 shifts of airport shuttle buses each day. It takes you 1.5 to 2 hours. And the price is 70 yuan. The telephone of the airport is 0531-96888.

Tai’an Ticket Office
It located in the air harbour of Mount Tai (200 meters west of the city’s stadium). You could take the bus at Taishan Hotel, and the connecting Tel number is 0538-8502600.
In addition, you could take the airport shuttle bus to the city proper of Jinan and then transfer to Tai’an by train or coach. You could buy tickets from tickets counter which is the north of the door 3 and 4 of the arrival hall on the first floor of the terminal building.
Railway
There are 2 railway stations in Mount Tai now, and they are Taishan Railway Station and Tai 'an High-speed Railway Station. Bus No.k18, 6, 17, and 30 are available between the two stations. It takes you about 1.5 hours.
Taishan Railway Station
Taishan Railway Station is situated on Caiyuan Avenue. It is an old railway station, and it is the traffic hub of tourism in Mount Tai. The traffic here is convenient. Located in the joint of the northern and southern China and the center of Beijing-Shanghai Railway, there are 44 express, trains, ordinary passenger trains docking at the station. Trains here could reach Zobo, Beijing, Shanghai, Xuzhou, Mudanjiang, Qingdao, Hefei, Caoxian, Taiyuan, Wenzhou, Qiqiha’er, etc. If you have some to know about the train here, you could dial 0538-8223252.

Tai 'an High-speed Railway Station
It is situated on Dahe Road, Panhe Avenue, Daiyue District, Tai’an city.
All the trains whose names start with D and G could be boarded here. Now you could take high-speed trains from here to Jinanxi, Shanghai hongqiao, Beijingnan, Xuzhoudong, Qingdao, Hangzhou, Tianjingxi, Fuzhou, Zhengzhou, etc.

Long-distance Bus
The main coach stations in Tai’an city are the Old Coach Station and the New Coach Station, and the former is large than the latter.
The Old Coach Station
Location: No.19, Taishan Avenue, and 200 meters south of the Taishan Railway Station

It offers coach lines to cities in Shandong province and other provinces and municipalities like Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Hubei, Henan, etc.
The station offer coaches to Jinan each 30minutes, to Qufu and Jining each 20 minutes, to Laiwu each 30 minutes and to Linyi each 1 hour.
The New Coach Station
Location: Yingsheng Road, Dongyue Avenue, Tai’an city, and it is 2 miles away from Taishan Railway Station

The station mainly provides coach lines to cities inside Shandong province.
In addition, there is a coach station on Taishan Railway Station Square called Guangchang Coach Station which mainly offers long-distance buses to Jinane, Laiwu, Laigang, Qufu, etc. And there is one station in front of the Jiaotong Hotel. It lies in the intersection of Taishan Avenue and Longtan Road, and mainly provides coach lines to Jinan, Feicheng, Zhangqiu, Zibo, Laiwu, Dezhou, Shouguang, Beijing, etc. You could call dial 0538-8416879 and 0538-3072169 if there is any question.
How to Get Around
Bus
The price of buses here varies from 1 to 2 yuan, and the ones equipped with air-conditioning charge 2 yuan. There are 4 entrances available to Mount Tai, and they are Hongmen Entrance (namely Taishandong Road, it is the first choice for hikers), Tianwaicun (Tiandi Square) Entrance, (namely Taishanxi Road, taking cars to the mountain), Taohuagu Entrance and Tianzhufeng Entrance. Mount Tai Scenic Spot is near the Taishan Railway Station so that there are also buses to Mount Tai from there. Varying buses would reach different entrances. There are some details about buses to the scenic spot.
Bus No.k13: The bus line terminate at Hongmen Entrance (starting point of Taishandong Road) and Tianwaicun Entrance (starting point ), and it passes Daizongfang, Dai Temple, Taishan Railway Station, Taishan Department Store, etc. It takes 2 yuan. Please mind the bus stop sign to take the right driving direction because one terminus is starting point for hikers and the other is where people can take touring cars.
Bus No.k4: The bus line connects the western and eastern part of Tai’an city, going through the city center. It passes Taishan Railway Station and the south gate of Dai Temple. Dai Temple is the southernmost point of Hongmen Entrance. The self-service bus takes 2 yuan.
Bus No.k16: Tourists who would like to visit Taohuagu Scenic Spot could get on at the Taishan Railway Station Stop. The bus line passes the New Coach Station. It takes 3 yuan.
Bus No.k19: Visitors who would like to Tianzhufeng Scenic Site could choose this bus line. It passes Tianwaicun and takes 1 yuan.
Taxi
The starting taxi fare in Tai’an city is 6 yuan for 2 miles, and later it is 1.5 yuan each mile. During the night (10p.m.--5a.m.), the initiate price is 6.9 yuan for 2 miles. It takes you 10 yuan or so from Taishan Railway Station to Hongmen Entrance or Tianwaicun, and 35 or so from Tai’an High-speed Railway Station to Hongmen Entrance or Tianwaicun, about 40 minutes.
Walking
Hiking Routes
- Hongmen Entrance (Hongmen -- Jade Emperor Peak): Namely east hiking road, and it is a traditional route. All historical sites and natural scenery gather the route, and it takes you about 4 hours for finish hiking.
- Tianwaicun Entrance (touring highway) namely west hiking road. Taking cars at Tianwaicun, and 1 hours later you could reach Midway Gate to Heaven, where you could take the cable car to the mountain top or hike up.
- Taohuagu Entrance: The gate lies in the Taohuagu Scenic Spot, and visitors could take Bus No.16 there and take ropeway up.
- Tianzhufeng Entrance: The gate of the entrance lies in the north of Mount Tai, and tourists could take cars at the Tai’an Railway Station to Shiwu, and then take ropeway or hike up to the Jade Emperor Peak.
