Overview
Dahanhao Hui Ethnic Township (大二号回族乡) is located in the northeastern part of Guyuan County (沽源县), Zhangjiakou City (张家口市), Hebei Province (河北省). It shares borders with Fengning County (丰宁县) to the east and south, Erdaoqu Township (二道渠乡) to the west, and Duolun County (多伦县) in Inner Mongolia to the north. The township is situated approximately 30 kilometers from the Guyuan County People’s Government and covers a total area of 63 square kilometers.
Historical Development
In 1950, the territory of Dahanhao Hui Ethnic Township was part of the Fourth District of Guyuan County. In 1984, it was separated from the Erdao District Commune and officially established as Dahanhao Hui Ethnic Township. As of the end of 2018, the registered population of the township was 3,133 people. By June 2020, Dahanhao Hui Ethnic Township comprised four administrative villages, with the township government located in Erhao Street Village (二号街村).

In 2018, Dahanhao Hui Ethnic Township had five comprehensive stores or supermarkets with an area exceeding 50 square meters.
Administrative Structure
As of the end of 2011, Dahanhao Hui Ethnic Township included four administrative villages: Dong Dahanhao (东大二号), Erhao Street (二号街), West Dahanhao (西大二号), and Tianliqiao (天立泉), along with 21 village groups and nine natural villages. By June 2020, it was confirmed that the township still comprised the same four administrative villages.

Location
Dahanhao Hui Ethnic Township is positioned in the northeastern part of Guyuan County, bordered by Fengning County to the east and south, Erdaoqu Township to the west, and Duolun County to the north, approximately 30 kilometers from the Guyuan County People’s Government.

The terrain of Dahanhao Hui Ethnic Township is characterized by a high southern region and a lower northern region, with the highest point at an elevation of 1,500 meters and the lowest point at 1,341 meters.

The township experiences an average annual temperature of 1.4°C, with approximately 2,940 hours of sunshine per year and an average frost-free period of around 117 days. The average annual rainfall is 426 millimeters.
Hydrology
Surface water in Dahanhao Hui Ethnic Township originates from Fengning County, flowing through the Jian Shimenzi Reservoir (建石门子水库).
Natural Resources
Dahanhao Hui Ethnic Township has identified 20 mineral types, with confirmed reserves for 16 of them. Metal ores include gold, molybdenum, uranium, iron, lead, and zinc, while non-metallic ores include coal, fluorite, zeolite, feldspar, bentonite, resin rock, obsidian, and tuff. Notably, lead and zinc reserves are 1.09 and 0.65 million tons, respectively, with other reserves such as coal, marble, and zeolite totaling 330 million tons, 640,000 tons, and 1.43 billion cubic meters, respectively.

At the end of 2011, the total population of Dahanhao Hui Ethnic Township was 3,223, with an urbanization rate of 3%. By the end of 2018, the registered population had increased to 3,133. The demographic composition includes a majority Han population and a Hui minority.
Transportation
Dahanhao Hui Ethnic Township is traversed by the county road Hao Gu Line (豪沽线), which connects Guyuan with Fengning County. The township is also accessible via the Pingdingbao Fengning Highway (平定堡丰宁公路), which runs horizontally through the area.
