Chongqing Poly Golf Club(重庆保利高尔夫球会) is situated at the north part of Chongqing, with 25 minutes’ drive away from the downtown and only 8 kilometers to the Yuzhong CBD area. It takes only 10 minutes to drive from Chongqing Jiangbei international airport. Chongqing Poly Golf Club was invested by a local firm, Poly Company, with near $100 million, and designed by designer Brain Curley. Chongqing Poly Golf Club, covering an area of 3800 mu, has 36 holes with two 18-hole golf courses of international standards. One is the North Mountain course called Eagle course, the other is the South Forest course called Phoenix course. The rising and falling hills, the rugged meadow, the sluggishly trickling streams, and the grand Spring Mountain make the golf course unforgettable.

The north course was opened to public in June, 2006. It is characterized by its hilly field, mountain greens and undulating terrain. Covering an area of 153 acres, this course has 6,949-yard long fairway and 71 standard pars. The whole course is built according to the special mountainous topography of Chongqing. The first 9 holes are located in the valley, and the back 9 holes are on the top of the Wochong Mountain, which will offer golfers a great challenge and fun of the game. The most spectacular scene of this course is that the tee shot of the 7th hole is located in the ridge above the front, a natural ditch greens in the valley among the green right back up to 40 meters of the waterfalls, right down to connect homeopathy streams.

The south course is in a length of 7,400 yards with international standard 72 pars. The main characteristic of this phoenix course is forest, among which the woods cover the river winds. One river will company with you through the whole course which let you dance with a “phoenix”. While appreciating the natural charm, you can enjoy yourself swinging golf here. Introduction
This is the closest course to downtown. Just 25 minutes away. A cab costs around Rmb 60 per way. The course was built by a local firm – Poly Company which mainly due with estate development. Recently , this company bought the Mingya Golf & Country Club in Nanchang.  It consisted of 36 holes, the older North Course plus the newly opened South course (Mar2008)
Facilities / Service
The clubhouse is not huge but adequate for 36 holes. Well decorated and stylish. When you step into the lobby, you’ll see the reception on the right. Restaurant and proshop on the left side. Down to the basement, there you see the changing room and starter. Locker is big and spacious. Food is ok and price is reasonable.
The Course
I played the North course. It is hilly with much change of elevation. And most of the time, teeshot are downslope and uphill approach. Long carry is also required to clear water, raverns. Combinations of doglegs, semi island greens�Ashort or long holes. 4 out of 5 Par 3 are long. No excessive water and bunker but alway appears when there is needed. The designer makes the fairway look tighter than it is. Infact, they are reasonable wide unless your ball goes really wild. Greens are big but not easy in reading lines.

Our Rating
Beautiful landscape, interesting setup, good combination of long & short holes, dogleg left and right, semi island green. Second round would be even more fun as you get familiar to those risk and reward holes.  Conditioning is good and well above average. Views could be better if there ain’t so many villas, construction and lamp posts.  I don’t have enough time to try the South course. From what I see, it is flatter and wetter compare with the North.  Nice course, challenging & funI would say, deserve for an Eagle 05 / 08  Surprisngly, there are only slightly more than a thousand local golfers in Chongqing, but there you found five golf clubs around (The sixth is coming shortly) No wonder it is so quiet even when I played on weekend. If you have a chance to visit Chongqing, make sure you try the local hotpot, it is fantastic. And, there are some historic sightseeing spot worth to hang around.
