III. Visa Requirements

Bhutanese citizens are required to obtain a visa prior to entering China. The visa application must be submitted to the appropriate embassy or consulate, and it typically involves providing a valid passport, visa application form, recent passport-sized photographs, travel arrangements, and financial documents.

IV. Visa Application Process

  1. Prepare Materials: Gather required documents based on visa type, including passport, application form, photos, itinerary, and financial proof.
  2. Submit Application: Submit materials to the Embassy of China in Bhutan, or via mail or third party.
  3. Wait for Review: The embassy reviews materials, usually taking about 4 working days. Express service may require additional payment.
  4. Collect Visa: After approval, collect the visa at the notified time and manner.

V. Special Visa Policies

  • Exemption Policy: From November 30, 2024 to December 31, 2025, Bhutanese citizens with ordinary passports can enter China visa-free for up to 30 days for business, tourism, family visits, exchange visits, or transit.
  • Landing Visa Policy: China doesn’t offer landing visas to Bhutanese citizens; advance application is required.
