Kaili is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, referred to as “Kai” for short and also known as the “pearl of Miaoling(苗岭明珠)”. Located in the east of Guizhou province, China, Kaili is one of the major central cities in Guizhou province. Kaili is the cultural center of China’s ethnic minorities, with many minority villages scattered in the nearby mountains. Here, you can visit the largest Miao and Dong villages, enjoy local song and dance performances, participate in celebrations or festivals, and even experience the local handicrafts. If you are interested in the manners and customs of China’s ethnic minorities, or want to go to some villages that preserve traditional lifestyles, Kaili will be a good place for you to learn about Miao culture and life. Surely, as a tourist destination, the city also boasts natural landscapes, karst landforms and ancient buildings.
