Mount Siguniang, translated as the “Mountain of Four Girls” in Chinese, is a spectacular natural wonder. It consists of four adjacent snow – capped peaks, all soaring above 5,300 meters. These peaks are neatly aligned in a straight line within a short span of just 3.5 km. Among them, Yaomei Peak, standing at an impressive 6,250 meters, holds the title of the second – highest mountain in Sichuan and is affectionately known as the “Queen of All Sichuan Mountains.” Western travelers who have had the privilege of visiting Yaomei Peak have been so enthralled by its beauty that they have compared it to the “Eastern Alps.”

Day 1: Chengdu – Rilong

  • Sightseeing and Activities: Dujiang Yan, Yingxiu Town, Bala Mountain, Yaomei Peak

After enjoying breakfast, our team will pick you up from your hotel in Chengdu and embark on a journey to Mount Siguniang. At a distance of approximately 260 km, Mount Siguniang is the closest snow – capped mountain to a major metropolis in the world. To enhance your travel experience, you’ll first visit the renowned World Heritage Site, the Dujiangyan Irrigation System. Then, you’ll stop by Ying Xiu Town, which was devastated by the tragic Wenchuan Earthquake in 2008. As you drive across Bala Mountain (4,532 m), you’ll be treated to your first thrilling glimpse of Yaomei Peak (6,250 m), the highest peak of Mount Siguniang. Your final destination for the day is Rilong, a charming small Tibetan town nestled at an altitude of 3,100 meters above sea level. Rest well here to prepare for the adventures ahead.

Day 2: Rilong – Dajian Bao – Jipeng zi

Begin your day by walking a few hundred meters from your hotel to the tourist center of Changping Valley. From there, take a sightseeing bus to Lama Temple, which is 5 km away and serves as the starting point for today’s hike. The remainder of the route is a walking path accessible only to pedestrians and horses. Changping Valley, stretching approximately 29 km long, lies at the foot of Mount Siguniang. Walking through this valley is like stepping into a real – life Shangri – La. Your eyes will first be greeted by vast, prosperous wild forests composed of dense, tall ancient trees. Beyond the forests, you’ll find long stretches of green meadows that seamlessly connect to the imposing snow – capped mountains.
Leisurely stroll through the wild forests, following the walking trails alongside clear streams. Along the way, you’ll encounter landscapes you’ve never seen before: ancient withered trees standing in lakes, nature – arranged red stones, peaks resembling camels or mushrooms, pure plateau lakes reflecting the giant peaks, and flocks and herds wandering leisurely. You’ll return to Lam Temple after reaching the Red Stone Array.

Day 3: Haizi Valley Hiking

Today, you’ll embark on an adventurous hike in another nearby valley – Haizi Valley. In contrast to Changping Valley, Haizi Valley is wider and more mysterious. To date, no roads have been built for vehicles, which keeps the area less crowded and preserves its wild charm. “Haizi” in Chinese means lakes and ponds, and true to its name, Haizi Valley is adorned with more than 10 beautiful plateau lakes and ponds, scattered among wild forests, meadows, flowers, green mountains, and giant snow – capped peaks.
During the first half of the hike in Haizi Valley, you’ll walk on plateau meadows and be treated to the most magnificent views of Mount Siguniang – the towering snow – capped peaks under a clear blue sky, cloud seas, flag clouds, and sunsets. In the second half, you’ll feel as if you’re in a world – class photography exhibition. The lakes here are mostly wide and large, surrounded by mountains with diverse, colorful sceneries. The crystal – clear water reflects all the surrounding scenery like a mirror. You’ll stop at Dahaizi Lake before making your way back to Rilong town.

Day 4: Rilong – Chengdu

Wake up to the peaceful morning in Rilong Town. After breakfast, you’ll be transferred back to Chengdu, bringing this wonderful four – day journey to an end
